La Vinya del Vuit

La Vinya del Vuit (Catalan for "the Vineyard of the Eight") is a rare and exclusive Priorat wine born from friendship and a shared passion for wine. The project was started by René Barbier and his cousin, who decided to make a wine together with friends. And so the joint venture of eight wine lovers was born: René Barbier Jr., Julian Basté, Iban Foix, Montse Mateos, Ester Nin, Núria Pérez, Sara Pérez and Philippe Thévenon.

Producer story

The vineyard was restored entirely by hand, working at weekends with vines more than 100 years old. The wine is made organically with minimal intervention to express the terroir in its purest form. Yields are extremely low – 100 g of grapes per vine, meaning 8–10 vines are needed for one bottle. The wine ages 16–18 months in 300-litre oak barrels, then in concrete and demijohns, and spends another 5 years in bottle, reaching exceptional concentration and longevity.

Each vintage has a unique label, given a new and bold design by designer Joanji Bertran. The wine is extremely exclusive – each member receives only 12 bottles a year, and the rest is sold worldwide en primeur. In 2024 a new white wine was added to the project, for which Carinyena Blanca and Garnatxa Blanca vines were planted.

La Vinya del Vuit is more than a wine – it is a symbol of shared passion and respect for the terroir of Priorat.
