The wine's story:
Hammelmann’s rosé Sekt is made from Pinot Noir grown on the calcareous soils of Hochstadt and undergoes its second fermentation in bottle, like Champagne. While Lukas’s still wines can be powerful and sharp, his bubbles are, by contrast, fine and elegant: a delicate mousse, precise acidity, red berries.
Lukas Hammelmann founded his small wine estate in Zeiskam, in the southern Pfalz, in 2016, coming from a family with no previous connection to winemaking. He farms just under five hectares in three villages – Zeiskam, Hochstadt and Neustadt-Hambach – and makes wine from only three varieties: Riesling, Chardonnay and Spätburgunder.
Winemaking:
- Variety: Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) 100%
- Non-vintage (lot Los 07/26)
- Traditional method (second fermentation in bottle)
- Dosage: Extra Brut
- Alcohol 11.5%
Tasting notes:
Wild strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant, citrus peel and brioche. Dry, with a delicate mousse, fresh and with a saline finish.
Food pairing:
As an aperitif, with seafood, salmon and trout tartare, sushi and light meat starters.
