The wine's story:

Parellada 2024 comes Cabra del Camp from the village’s old (50–60+ years) vines. This higher-altitude microclimate allows the grapes to ripen with very low sugar levels, so that the natural alcohol remains remarkably low – around 10%.

Òrbita Venus is an independent small producer focused on natural methods:

  • hand-harvested

  • natural yeasts

  • minimal intervention

  • fermentation and maturation in stainless steel only

  • skin contact ~3 weeks, which gives texture

  • unfined, unfiltered

Stylistically, this is ultra-fresh, citrusy and very light a white wine that expresses the purity and minerality of the region.

Winemaking:

Parellada 2024 is made in an extremely minimalist, natural way to bring out the pure character of old vines. The grapes are harvested by hand from 50–60-year-old bush-trained Parellada vines on the higher plateau of the village of Cabra del Camp. The harvest takes place early in the morning to keep the grapes cool and preserve maximum aromatic intensity.

After sorting, the grapes are left for around three weeks of skin contact. This is unusual for a white wine, but it is precisely what gives the Parellada its light tannic structure, soft texture and almondy, herbal undertone. Fermentation takes place entirely with wild yeasts, without added yeasts or enzymes.

The entire wine is fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks, which keep the flavour profile pure and fresh. Neither amphora nor oak is used – so no weight or vanilla tannins are added to the wine. Ageing lasts 8 months on the lees, which adds a touch of creaminess and roundness while preserving the acidity and citrus clarity.

The wine is not neither fined nor filtered. Sulphur is added only minimally, at bottling. The alcohol naturally remains very low – around 10%, as Parellada ripens fully at low sugar levels.

The result is a wine made in the purest and most authentic way possible, preserving the natural freshness, minerality and aromatic precision of both the variety and the site.

Tasting notes:

In colour, the wine is pale straw yellow with a greenish tint – very clean and bright.

The nose is dominated by:

  • lemon, lime and white grapefruit

  • fresh green apple

  • white flowers (acacia, camomile)

  • subtle herbal notes (fennel, fresh rosemary)

  • light salty, stony minerality

On the palate, the wine is zesty, light and supremely refreshing.
The acidity is lively, giving the wine energy and length. On the palate there is citrus (lime zest, lemon curd), white peach and a light almondy, creamy nuance – this comes from skin contact.

The texture is soft and silky, while the low alcohol makes the wine supremely drinkable.
The finish is clean, long and slightly saline, with a very clear and minimalist profile.

This is a wine whose charm lies in simplicity and precision – not power.

Food pairing:

Best served at 8–9°C.

Pairs with:

  • ceviche, scallops, delicate fish with lime

  • sushi and sashimi

  • pasta alle vongole or a light lemon risotto

  • fennel and orange salad

  • steamed or grilled white fish

  • goat’s cheese, burrata, ricotta

This wine calls for clean, airy flavours.

Ageing potential:

Parellada 2024 is a wine that is at its brightest when young, as its identity rests on freshness, citrus and a light texture.

  • Drinking window: 2025–2027

  • Can develop for up to 3–4 years, taking on a touch of almond and herbs

  • Not intended for long ageing – its strength lies in lightness, not depth

Young (1–2 years after harvest), it shows its purest and most vibrant character.

Òrbita Venus is a bold, experimental wine project uniting René Barbier Jr. (son of the Clos Mogador founder) and the young winemakers of Succés Vinícola in Conca de Barberà. Started around 2020, its aim is to take the Trepat grape to a new level, bringing out a depth and elegance not usually associated with light reds and rosés. René Jr., who runs Venus La Universal in Montsant together with Sara Pérez, brings a philosophy of minimalist winemaking and terroir expression. Succés Vinícola adds deep local knowledge of Trepat and organic viticulture in Conca de Barberà – a region of limestone-rich soils and a cooler climate, ideal for elegance and freshness. The name "Òrbita Venus" refers both to adventure and pushing boundaries and to Sara Pérez's Venus projects, which focus on the depth of Catalan terroir. Working with old Trepat vines in high-altitude vineyards lets them make naturally fermented wines of distinctive character.
