The wine's story:

Concordance is one of the purest Champagnes Marie-Courtin makes — a cuvée made without a single drop of added SO₂, in which the wine matures for years in a completely neutral environment. This demands exceptional fruit health and vine balance.
The grapes for the 2018 vintage come from Pinot Noir vines around 50 years old, whose roots reach deep into a mix of Marne clay and Kimmeridgian limestone. This soil gives the wine its trademark saline minerality, sharpened aromas and a very clear energy.

The east-facing slopes of the village of Polisot catch the morning sun and keep the grapes cool — this is precisely what allows sans soufrestyle to make a wine that is naturally stable, precise and radiant. Concordance is not simply a sulphite-free Champagne but a wine that expresses the vineyard as directly as is at all possible in the world of Champagne.

Winemaking:

• 100% Pinot Noir
• Vine age ~50 years
• Soil: Marne (clay) + Kimmeridgian limestone
• Aspect: east-facing slope
• Biodynamic farming (Demeter)

Fermentation:
– with natural yeasts
– in enamelled steel tanks (not in oak, not in stainless steel)

Ageing:
– entirely in enamelled steel tanks
– approximately 7 years on the lees before disgorgement
– racking: yes
– fining or filtration: no

SO₂:
– are not added (sans soufre ajouté)

Dosage:
– Extra Brut (0–3 g/l), though the flavour profile is essentially Brut Nature.

Tasting notes:

On the nose, wild cherry, redcurrant, rowan, a green herbal touch and a smoky note that comes from long ageing on the lees rather than from barrels.
On the palate the wine is precise, vertical and very pure. The first sip reveals the freshness of red berries, followed by the mineral sharpness of lemon and grapefruit and a long-lasting saline limestone finish.
The texture is taut, airy and exceptionally energetic — Concordance is a wine that seems alive in the glass, becoming more aromatic by the moment.

Food pairing:

• oysters, large prawns, scallops
• sushi, sashimi, ceviche
• trout or sea bass with lemon and herb butter
• artichoke and asparagus risottos (Concordance copes well with unconventional “anti-Champagne” vegetables such as artichoke)
• fresh goat’s cheese, raw-milk cheeses
• lightly smoked white fish

This is a Champagne particularly suited to dishes where purity matters most.

Ageing potential:

2024–2032+
A wine built for long ageing, which grows rounder over the years and gains nuances of brioche, roasted nuts, dried herbs and delicate sweet citrus, while still retaining its natural precision and tension.

Champagne Marie-Courtin is one of the most distinctive small producers of the Côte des Bar – a 2.5-hectare biodynamic domaine run by the charismatic vigneronne Dominique Moreau. It is named after Dominique's grandmother, symbolising feminine strength, closeness to the land and an intuitive approach to nature – the principles at the heart of the Marie-Courtin style. The vines in the village of Polisot grow on Kimmeridgian limestone, the same kind of soil that gives the great wines of Chablis their mineral backbone. Most of the vineyard consists of older massal-selection vines that give small but exceptionally concentrated crops. Dominique works fully to organic and biodynamic principles (Demeter), using only the yeasts from her own vineyard and avoiding added sugar or any stylistic "cosmetics". Marie-Courtin's philosophy is "one plot, one grape, one vintage" – each cuvée is a single, unrepeatable reflection of a specific part of the vineyard and a specific year. The result is exceptionally pure, precise and tense Champagnes with bright acidity, salty minerality and deep energy. Pinot Noir shows itself here as both powerful and airy, sometimes almost flinty, with notes of chalk and wet stone. Dominique's wines (Résonance, Efflorescence, Concordance, Éloquence and others) have received high scores from international critics for their focus, unusual purity and the courage to let the terroir speak. These Champagnes are not meant only as an aperitif – they are gastronomic wines with character, best served in a white wine glass, and they can keep developing after opening. Today Marie-Courtin is one of the most influential biodynamic producers of the Côte des Bar, whose small cuvées are highly valued by sommeliers for their uncompromising honesty and terroir-driven precision.
