Champagne
Champagne is the wine region of northern France where a cool climate and chalk soils give sparkling wines tension, acidity and minerality. The main grapes are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier; some growers also work with Pinot Blanc and other old varieties.
diWine focuses on grower Champagne (récoltant-manipulant): the producer grows the grapes and makes the wine from their own vineyards. Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Chouilly), Pinot Noir from the Côte des Bar and Meunier from the Marne Valley show how different the villages of one region can be.
Producers: Bourgeois-Diaz, Clandestin, Girard-Bonnet, Marie-Courtin, Michel Genet, Piollot, Régis Poissinet, Domaine Vincey.
