Jerez
Jerez (Sherry) is the Andalusian wine region in the province of Cádiz, framed by Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. White, chalky albariza soil and the Atlantic influence give the Palomino grape a salty, chalky character.
Alongside the classic fortified wines – manzanilla, fino, amontillado, palo cortado – a new generation makes unfortified white wines from single vineyards (pagos) such as Miraflores, Balbaína, Carrascal and Macharnudo.
